The time to fight asthma is now. The ASTHMATTACK! is on, and Kentucky is joining with other Lung Association chapters across the country in the single largest organized effort ever undertaken to conquer asthma.
More than 100 years ago, Kentucky stepped forward to do its part as the American Lung Association led the historic fight against tuberculosis. Just as we triumphed over TB, we can now win over asthma.
As a partner in the $25 million nationwide ASTHMATTACK! campaign, the ALA of Kentucky has committed to raise a minimum of $300,000 over the next three years through a major gifts initiative. Campaign proceeds will be used to attack asthma from a number of vantage points, including...
- expanded patient services and outreach
- innovative community-based education and prevention programs
- new cutting-edge medical research
Asthma camp helped our son so much, it's almost like we dropped one kid off and picked another one up. He's much more confident and much better about taking his meds, plus he made friends and had a ball. We are absolutely thrilled! - Parent, Camp Superkids Camper

| Our History... Our Focus... Our Mission... |
In 1892, a number of Kentucky's most prominent physicians and civic volunteers organized the American Lung Association of Kentucky to fight tuberculosis. As public health pioneers we led a campaign that eventually saw modern medicine and research triumph over the "white plague".
A century later, as Kentucky's oldest nonprofit health agency, our battle front has expanded to include all types of lung disease. Through support of research, public and school education programs, stop smoking clinics, support groups, clean air initiatives and patient assistance, we have made great strides against lung disease. However, much remains to be done.
Today, one of our top priorities is conquering asthma, and we need your help. Please support the Kentucky ASTHMATTACK! and join us in keeping asthma from compromising the lives of children, adults and families throughout the Commonwealth. |
